About Topaz
Topaz is an aluminium silicate containing fluorine and hydroxyl. It occurs colourless, blue, yellow, brown, pink and in the prized reddish-orange imperial variety. At Mohs 8 it is hard, though it has perfect basal cleavage that cutters must respect. You can read more via gemmological reference, mineral data.
Topaz crystallises in granitic pegmatites and rhyolite cavities from fluorine-rich vapours late in the cooling of igneous rock. Well-formed prismatic crystals are characteristic.

๐ท Hardness Profile
The mineral species possesses a high durability on the Mohs scale, making the finished results well suited for regular daily wear.
๐ฆ Exactly What Is Pictured

Popular Uses
Topaz is widely used in rings, pendants and earrings. Its hardness supports daily wear, while its cleavage means it should be protected from hard direct impact. Rough of this kind is bought by cutters, wire wrappers and collectors rather than set as it is.

Frequently Asked Questions
What exactly do I receive in this parcel?
You receive the whole lot pictured: 108.6 grams of natural Imperial Topaz rough, with individual stones between 0.3 to 8.5 grams. The parcel is not split and the stones are not sold separately.
What is the best way to orient these pieces for cutting?
Inspect the pieces for natural crystal faces and internal flaws using a loupe before deciding on your cutting direction. Orienting the rough properly helps preserve the deepest colour zones in your finished work.
Are these pieces suitable for wire wrapping?
Yes, many lapidaries and wire wrappers use raw parcels of this material to create organic, bespoke pendant designs. The irregular shapes grip wire securely when mounted.
How does this material behave during the polishing stage?
Topaz responds well to standard lapidary oxide polishes when worked with care and proper cooling on the wheels. Take your time through the fine sanding steps to avoid frictional heating.
How should finished items made from this rough be cleaned?
Clean your finished pieces using warm soapy water and a soft brush to remove everyday oils and dust. Avoid harsh chemical dips that might affect surrounding metal settings.
How long does delivery take, and can I return it?
We contact you directly as soon as your order is placed to arrange delivery, so you always know where the parcel is. Returns are accepted within 7 days of the date you receive the item.
Are your stones natural, or are any of them synthetic?
Everything we sell is 100% natural. We do not deal in synthetic or laboratory-grown material, and we do not hide anything about a piece: the photographs are shot to show every detail, including the ones a seller might prefer you did not see.
Are the stones in the photographs the ones I will be sent?
Yes. Every parcel is weighed and photographed as a group before it is listed, and once it sells the listing comes down.
